How I can help

How it works

Every memoir is unique, and the process will be adapted to you so you can get the most out of it, but here is what you can expect the process to look like.

  • An initial meeting or call to get to know each other and discuss the project. We’ll explore why you wanted to write a memoir, who it’s for and build a rough plan for the scope and content of your book.

  • I’ll ask you to collect any material and photographs you want to include or will help inform your story, as well as any material you may have previously written.

  • Depending on your package, I’ll interview you at a time that’s convenient for you. During this period, we’ll work together to shape your book, building its structure, themes and balancing the focus on key events in your life.

  • I will regularly send you material to review to ensure your voice is being captured and your story is being told accurately.

  • When a draft is finished, it will be sent to you for approval, and we’ll work through any changes or revisions together.

  • Once completed, your book will be printed and delivered to you, along with a PDF version.

Why choose Write Your Memoirs?

A career in journalism and writing has given me the technical skills to help you get your life story down, but writing your memoir is a highly personal undertaking that requires more than just prowess. I'm friendly, personable and genuinely interested. You won't have a robotic notetaker, you'll have someone who is invested in you and the story you're telling.

There's nothing formulaic about how we'll work together. Just as everyone has a unique story, everyone's way of working is different. I'll adapt how we work to suit you, ensuring I capture your memoirs in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable, and that delivers a finished product that you're completely happy with.
